  • Homer Ray Isenhower died July 24, 2015 at the age of 96. He was born March 26, 1919 in Fairmont, IL to Elza & Grace Padgett Isenhower. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1937, and attended Champaign Business College from 1937 to 1939. He married Marjorie Boggess in 1942 while working for Wright Field AFB in Dayton, Ohio. They moved to Illinois in 1943 to take up farming and was employed by U of I as a grounds man. In 1972, he and Marge moved to Hot Springs Village, AR where he worked as groundskeeper until he retired at age 65 (1984). He started and worked in his own landscaping business until moving to Quapaw Nursing Home in 2006.

    He was a member of Pioneers of the Village, HSV Evening Lions and one of the last surviving members of the “Firehouse Gang” of the Village United Methodist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marge (2004) and infant daughter, Kathy Sue (1959), 3 sisters, Anna Lee Brown of Georgetown, IL; Beck Price and Mary Baker of Rossville, IL; and 1 brother, George (Ike) of Hot Springs, AR.

    Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Bill & Linda Isenhower of Mahomet, IL; and Dwight & Karen Isenhower of Hot Springs, AR; 3 grandsons, John Isenhower of Trenton, IL; Jeff Isenhower of Philo, IL; and Dwight “Ike” Isenhower of Neosho, MO; 2 granddaughters, Kimberly Risch of Tampa, FL; and Kelly Boatright of Weatherford, TX; 1 brother, Marvin Isenhower of Danville, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Christine Swindle of Hot Springs Village, and 8 great-grandchildren.

     

    Services will be held at CedarVale Funeral Home at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, July 30th, with a Visitation hour starting at 10:00a.m. Burial will be at CedarVale Cemetery. Tom Jarrell will officiate, Jim Gause reciting scripture and Ike Isenhower Jr. giving “Moments of Reflection”.

    Pallbearers: Bill Isenhower, John Isenhower, Jeff Isenhower, Ike Isenhower, Mac Harris. Honorary pallbearers: Carl Simmons and Drs. Fred Heinemann, Randy Hill.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hot Springs Heart Association, Hot Springs Cancer Assosciation or Parkinson’s Support Group.

    Dwight, we are so sorry about your dad. We enjoyed having him doing our yard work along with you. We are in Bentonville now and in our 90's too but don't need help yet. We hope things are going well for you. We went to the care center a few times to see him before we moved in 2008. The Dinkel's
